Creating Designs
Use the advanced design editor to build templates with text fields, fonts, and stitch previews.
Overview
Design templates define the embroidery layout your customers personalize. Each template specifies a hoop size, text fields, font options, and optional base design artwork.
Creating a template
- Go to Designs → Advanced and click New advanced design.
- Set the hoop dimensions (width and height in mm) to match your physical embroidery hoop.
- Add one or more text fields — each field has a key, label, placeholder text, and position on the canvas.
- Assign fonts to each field from your uploaded BX font library.
- Optionally attach a base design asset (a stitch file) that appears behind the text.
The design editor
The editor has three main areas:
- Canvas — A live stitch preview showing how the final embroidery will look. It updates as you change field values, fonts, and positions.
- Toolbar — Undo/redo, zoom controls, and save.
- Sidebar — Template properties (name, description, status, geometry) and field configuration panels.
Text field options
Each text field supports:
- Font selection — Choose from uploaded BX font families. Each family can have multiple size variants.
- Layout mode — Standard left-to-right, arched text, or circular text.
- Letter spacing and line height — Fine-tune the spacing between characters and lines.
- Text style — Normal, italic, or bold (depending on font support).
Design status
- Draft — Only visible to your team in the dashboard.
- Published — Available on the kiosk and storefront.
Availability
Control where each design appears:
- Kiosk only — Only shown on the in-store kiosk.
- Online only — Only available through the web storefront.
- Both — Available everywhere.
Design library
Upload reusable stitch assets (DST, PES, JEF files) under Designs → Library. These can be used as base designs across multiple templates.
