Price, Review, Approval and the Receipt
The price as customers go, the review step, approving the design, the order screen, paying at the register, and proofs.
The price as they go
Every field step shows the Price so far. It reads Updating… while the price is worked out again. While a field is blocked (text too long, a character the font can't stitch), it keeps the last good price, greyed, with Updates when the name is fixed, and the reason the customer can't go on sits under the Next button. Prices are in your price list's currency.
The price comes from your price list and pricing rules, and from the product's price when the customer picked one of your products (see Products & Pricing). When the order is placed, the server works the price out again from your own records, never from the tablet, and that is the total stored with the order.
A design saved earlier and finished later is priced at today's prices. When the total has changed since it was saved, the review step says so: "The price has changed since you saved this design: it was … and is now …".
The review step
The last step, Looks good?, shows everything the customer is ordering:
- the stitch preview (on a tablet held upright; held sideways, the preview beside it is the design),
- the item, when they named one,
- each field's text, font and thread, with Edit to go back to it. A blank required field reads Not entered, a blank optional one Left blank (optional). Letters they moved show as Moved by hand,
- Your details: name, email and phone. By default the name is required and the others are optional; you choose under Settings → Kiosk → Customer details (see Session settings),
- Notes ("Anything we should know?"), up to 1,000 characters. Staff see it as the Customer comment at the top of the order,
- a Send a proof choice, when proofs are on for your shop,
- the price lines and the Total. The total is repeated right above Submit order (Total … · pay at the register), so the customer sees what they approve.
Approving and submitting
Before Submit order works, the customer ticks the approval box. Its wording is your Approval copy (Settings → Brand); the default is "I approve this embroidery preview and understand it will be used for production."
- The box can't be ticked until the preview is ready and nothing needs fixing.
- Going back to change a field clears it, so the customer approves what they finally ordered.
- The reason Submit order is waiting is shown just above it (see Why the kiosk won't let a customer continue).
- Only a paired tablet can submit. On any other device the review step offers Save and finish at the shop instead.
- Tapping Submit order twice, or trying again after a lost connection, never places two orders.
The order keeps what was approved: the preview, each field's text, font and thread, the price lines and the time of approval. Staff see it on the order page as the Approval Record (see Managing Orders).
The order screen and paying
After Submit order the kiosk shows Order submitted! with:
- the order number (
TR-followed by the date and a short code), - the total, to pay at the register,
- the item, when they named one,
- a QR code. Scanned with the customer's phone camera it opens their approved design; staff scan the same code at the register to find the order.
ThreadReady doesn't take payment. A new order is Awaiting payment until staff mark it paid. At the register, scan the QR code or search the order number, name or phone (see Receipts and barcodes), take payment on your POS, then Mark paid (see Order statuses). Receipts are paperless by default: the main button is Email me my receipt (and Text me my receipt where texts are on); see Paperless receipts. Printing a paper receipt is covered in After the customer submits.
Once the order is placed the design is locked. Start a new order clears the screen for the next customer; on a paired tablet it also clears itself after a minute or less (see Timeouts, errors and recovery).
Proofs
The proof page is the customer's copy of what they approved: the design, each field's text and thread, the total and when they approved it. It needs no sign-in and never shows the customer's name, email or phone. Its "Something not right?" line gives your shop's reply-to email, and your phone if you publish it (see Contact details for customers). With neither, it asks the customer to tell you their order number.
- The customer opens it from the QR code on the order screen.
- Email me my receipt (on by default: Let customers email their receipt, see Session settings) sends one email that is both the receipt and the proof: the order number, the total, a picture of the design, what will be stitched, the receipt QR code and a link to the proof page. If the email can't be sent, the order screen says so and suggests scanning the QR code instead. Text me my receipt sends a link by text where SMS is enabled for your account.
- A proof link expires after 30 days (see After the customer submits); staff can still find the order by scanning or searching.
- When staff correct an order after approval, the customer may be asked to approve the updated design on this page (see Correcting an order after approval).
