Referrals

Share your link, earn $10 of credit on your payments for each paying shop, swag milestones and claiming them, and the rules.

Overview

Share your referral link from Settings → Referrals. A shop that signs up with it gets a 30-day trial once it verifies its email (unless its owner has already had a free trial), and you earn $10 of credit and move toward the swag milestones when it becomes a paying customer: when its first payment goes through, which for a shop that subscribes during its trial is the day the trial ends.

How credit works

  • Credit comes off your upcoming payments. It's taken off automatically and has no cash value. Settings → Referrals shows what you've earned, what's been applied, and what's available. It only counts as applied once your payment goes through, so a failed payment doesn't use it up.

  • Every payment leaves at least $1 to pay. Credit above that carries forward to your next payments.

  • No paid subscription yet? During a trial, or on a complimentary plan or lifetime membership, your balance stays on your account. It comes off your payments once you have a paid subscription. If you subscribed during your trial, your first payment is taken when the trial ends and your credit comes off the payment after it (Paddle can't add a discount to a subscription that's still in its trial).

  • Credit doesn't expire. Cancelling keeps your balance: it stays on your workspace with no cash value, and comes off your payments again if you come back.

  • Your balance goes if your workspace does. Credit belongs to the workspace, so it's deleted with it: 30 days after you delete the workspace, or when a locked workspace is deleted (90 days after it locks, with email notices first). It isn't paid out.

  • Another discount comes first. A subscription can hold one discount at a time, so credit waits until a running promo discount has ended.

  • Your own shops don't count. A referral is ignored or blocked when the two shops share an owner email or a company email domain, or pay through the same Paddle customer. Addresses at shared providers such as Gmail only match on the exact address.

  • A refund undoes the referral. If the referred shop gets a full refund within 30 days of subscribing, the referral stops counting and the $10 credit is taken back. If you've already spent it, your balance goes negative and your next credit covers that first; you're never charged for it.

  • 50 paid referrals earns lifetime membership. Your workspace gets Pro free for life automatically, and any running subscription is cancelled at the end of its paid period. It stays yours even if a later refund takes you below 50.

Swag milestones

Paid referrals also earn swag. Settings → Referrals shows your progress to the next reward:

  • 5 paid referrals: a sticker pack
  • 15: a coffee mug
  • 30: an embroidered cap (one size fits most, or XL)
  • 50: lifetime membership, a backpack and a tumbler

When you reach one, the page says You have swag to claim! Anyone in the workspace can claim it: pick the reward, enter a name, email and shipping address, and submit. Each reward can be claimed once per workspace. Claiming isn't available while the workspace is locked.

Your link and numbers

Settings → Referrals has your referral link with a copy button, and counts Signups (shops that signed up with your link), Conversions (those that became paying), and your Credits Earned, Credits Applied and Credits Available.
