There are basically two format types:

Vector – Vector files are usually created in programs such as Corel, Adobe Illustrator, AutoCAD, etc… and will have a .EPS, .CDR, .AI, .SVG or . DWG file extension. Vector files do not lose resolution with size and are the preferred file type. Vector files must have text converted to curves or flattened.
• Corel 2017 (v19) or older (.CDR)
• Vector PDF (.PDF)
• Encapsulated Post Script (.EPS) or Scalable Vector Graphics (.SVG)
• Adobe Illustrator (.AI) Please note that Adobe Photoshop files are bitmaps and not vector files
• AutoCAD (.DWG)

Bitmap – Bitmaps are the most common and include .JPG, .BMP, .GIF, .PNG, .TIFF and .PDF extensions. The image in these file types are made up of individual pixels (dots) and lose resolution and quality as the size changes. Ideally, bitmaps should have a resolution of 300 dpi (dots per inch) at the size to be be embroidered or printed but, lower resolutions can be used in some cases. The quality of the image is important. Most images on the web are 72 dpi and are not of sufficient quality. The preferred format is PNG (with transparent background). Due to variations in computer monitors, artwork may not print with the same color, tones, or saturation. If your print job is color critical, please request a sample print (charges apply).

Probably not. But, there are exceptions:

Organizations like the NFL, NBA, NASCAR, Disney, etc. either prohibit this or require a licensing agreement. Some organizations will allow the use of their logo under certain conditions and require a letter of authorization for that specific project. Most, if not all, team and product logos you see embroidered on Etsy, eBay, etc. are in violation the copyright and are illegal.

In some cases, corporate logos may be used by a third party representative. For instance, a local car dealership wishes to provide their employees with shirts, caps and jackets with the car manufacturer’s logo. This is acceptable as the dealership is an authorized representative of the brand.

Contact us directly if you have any questions regarding the use of logos and copyrights.

The short answer is “maybe”. It depends on the item and what you want on it. Some items may not be suitable for embroidery due to size, construction, material, etc.  We’d be happy to take a look and let you know if it’s possible and give you a quote.

We do not print on customer supplied items.

Thread Ready will not be responsible for customer supplied items that are lost or damaged.

We pride ourselves on offering fair and competitive pricing. Several factors go into determining the cost such as complexity, size and the item being embroidered or printed. We’re happy to give you a free estimate for your project. Just give us the details and we’ll get you a price right away!

Digitizing, which is the process of converting your artwork into a file format suitable for computerized embroidery, starts at $30 (a one time fee), and is required for anything other than simple text.

We include the first 5,000 stitches of embroidery at no cost when you purchase your apparel from us.  5,000 stitches usually covers text or a simple design roughly the size of a business card.  Larger designs are charged starting at $1.50 per 1000 stitches.

Customer supplied items start at $10.00 for up to 5,000 and then $1.50 per 1000 stitches thereafter.

We happily offer discounts for active duty/retired military, law enforcement, firefighter/rescue and some charity organizations.

In most cases, yes. Something simple, like embroidering a name on a shirt or cap, will not require digitizing as long as we have a suitable font in our system. Logos and artwork will need to be digitized. The cost for this varies depending on the size and complexity of the design but, typically starts at $30. The fee may be waived on larger orders. We’ll let you know the exact cost in your project estimate.

Embroidery
• Small logos for caps, chest, sleeve, etc. start at $30
• Large area designs such as jacket backs start at $65
• Minor revisions are free

Print
• Ready to print artwork will not have a set-up fee
• Convert or copy artwork to make “print-ready” starts at $20
• Custom artwork is $45/hour (1 hour minimum then billed in 15 minute increments)

We happily offer a 10% discount to active duty military, veterans, first responders and some charity organizations for personal purchases. Some restrictions apply, check with us for details.

This depends on the quantity and availability of the items as well as our current workload. We’ll give you a lead time with your project quote.

We typically quote 7-10 business days. Let us know if your order is urgent and we’ll see how best to expedite it (a rush fee may apply).

Absolutely! We charge the actual shipping cost plus a small handling fee to cover the cost of the box/packing materials. We typically ship via USPS Priority Mail and UPS.

Most orders can ship via USPS Priority Mail for $8-$10. We can also ship via UPS.

We’re happy to deliver your local corporate or school order for free.

We accept purchase orders from established clients in good standing as well as from authorized local school districts, businesses and organizations. Please note that purchase orders must be paid in full within 10 business days.  We will not accept purchase orders with longer terms and late payment may result in additional fees and order restrictions.  Feel free to contact us if you would like to set up an account.
